Atherton Racing was founded in 2006 by siblings Dan, Gee and Rachel Atherton and became one of the most successful teams in the history of the sport with over fifty World Cup wins, eight World Championships and seven individual Elite Series overall to their credit.
They introduced a professional approach to athlete training and race-craft that enabled the team to dominate UCI World Cup podiums for almost 20 years.
The team are famously innovative; their ground-breaking series the Atherton Project introduced the sport to a mainstream audience and in 2019, concerned that bike technology wasn’t keeping pace with the demands of the riders, they walked away from a traditional sponsorship model to start their own bike company.
Training and talent spotting are huge motivations for the team’s founders; home-grown talent includes 2023 World Champion Charlie Hatton who rides for the team in 2026 as well as stars like Martin Maes, Andreas Kolb and Mille Johnset.
