Where it is?

The Vysočina Arena and its surrounding trails are the centre piece of the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series venue, which is located just outside Nové Město na Moravě’s town centre. A small town in the Žďár nad Sázavou District in the Vysočina Region, it is 160km southeast of the country’s capital, Prague.

What happened last time?

Christopher Blevins (Specialized Factory Racing) overcame a last lap dropped chain to make history becoming the first rider to ever win the opening three UCI XCC World Cup rounds. Meanwhile, Puck Pieterse (Alpecin-Deceuninck) returned to mountain bike action in style to win the Women’s Elite UCI Cross-country Short-Track (XCC) World Cup XCC race. Full race report here.

During the XCO race, Mona Mitterwallner (Mondraker Factory Racing XC) benefited from a mechanical issue for Puck Pieterse (Alpecin-Deceuninck)) to take the win as Christopher Blevins (Specialized Factory Racing) took glory in the Elite Men’s race. Across the weekend, the event welcomed 24,000 spectators, adding to the electric atmosphere on site. Read all about the action here.

What’s the course like?

One of the long-standing venues on the XC calendar, Nové Město is loved for it’s loamy pine forest trails and has several key spots that are perfect for getting close to the action. Expect the powerful riders like Richards and Blevins to do well on the brutal climb – cheered on by wall-to-wall spectators. The action is also sure to unfold at the rock-drop section! Spectators have a number of track-side grandstands to choose from, either on the main straight or in the forest sections.
